 Since 1994, Grayhawk Golf Club has been a staple on the Scottsdale golf menu. The laid-back ambiance of this club sets it apart from all other courses in the area. Lefty has toted the Grayhawk banner throughout his professional golf career and is honored every day in "Phil's Grill". Home to two championship courses, the Raptor and Talon, Grayhawk Golf Club is host to many major events. The most recent and on-going of these is the Frys.com Open, a PGA TOUR event in the fall, won last year by our friend from north of the border, Mike Wier.
Talon, designed by David Graham and Gary Panks, was the first course to arrive on the scene . Known for its large tiered greens and deceivingly narrow looking fairways, Talon is friendly enough for any golfer. There is plenty of room around the greens for those errant approach shots to ease the pressure. Even enough to get right back in the hole if your opponent has ended up on the wrong tier of the green. You'll be welcomed to the first tee by a life-size bronze memorial of Heather Farr who was a well known Ambassador to Grayhawk Golf Club. The hole is appropriately name "Farrsveiw."
Raptor is a Tom Fazio design and it has some teeth. You'll need to see this one for yourself. It's definitely a must-play. This golf course may be the one that Gary McCord spilled the bikini wax on, though he did not loose his job - they actually hired him here!
Grayhawk Golf Club is also home of the Kostis/ McCord Learning Center. If they can't teach you how to play golf, they can sure teach you how to enjoy it.
