Troon North Golf Club Worth The Hype

Since the re-routing of the Troon golf courses back in 2007, Troon North Golf Club has received accolades worthy of mentioning.  Both the Pinnacle and Monument courses have achieved their highest ranking by Golf Digest in the Top 100 You Can Play.  The Pinnacle was ranked at #21 and the Monument was ranked at #45.  It may not mean much to some folks, but for an older facility to move up the rankings significantly is a huge deal.  What it really means is that Troon North Golf Club did more than just re-route the existing holes.

The renovation was billed as a re-route, but it seems to have taken on a few additional adjustments for the better.  After extensive research (meaning, playing the courses a few times) into the "other" projects that accompanied the re-route, we came across a few that may interest you.  There was a complete bunker renovation - that is improving the shape, drainage and sand to each and almost every bunker on the two courses.  Hopefully you won't have to use them, but if you do, keep in mind that they're brand new!  Greens were reshaped - a select few greens were tweaked to sharpen the intended visual affects and accompany some of the newly renovated bunkers.  As I understand, Tom Weiskopf is nothing short of a perfectionist, so what he didn't get perfect the first time around, he made certain to get right this time.  Is this too much shop talk for you?  Alright, we'll just keep it simple....put these courses on your MUST PLAY list next time you're in Scottsdale.

I kept the best for last, especially if you play with Callaway equipment or are interested in purchasing the latest and greatest from Callaway.  Troon North Golf Club now has a state-of-the-art Callaway Golf Performance Center.  What does this mean?  This means that if you make an appointment at the Performance Center an hour before your tee-time, you can be playing with a brand new set of clubs fitted specifically to you - just like Phil Mickelson or Annika Sorenstam get fitted by Callaway Experts.  Or you can bring your existing set to be adjusted to fit your swing.  This facility makes your clubs on site and has enough inventory to fit and make clubs for a small army.  You can purchase directly from the Callaway Performance Center at discount center pricing.  Sweet!  Better yet, if you negotiate a little, they'll throw in the $150 fitting charge with the purchase of a new set of Callaways.

Maybe it's time that you put this Troon North Golf Club Experience to the test.
