Featured Golf Course June 2008
As you pick your dates for your upcoming Arizona Golf Vacation, there is one golf course that is for sure a must-play, and that's Troon North Golf Club. In 2007, Tom Weiskopf took his already #1 and #2 ranked golf courses in the state of Arizona and rerouted them to create an entirely new playing experience. Both the "new" Pinnacle Golf Course and the "new" Monument Golf Course have shorter distances between the front and back nines and the Pinnacle has been made walkable with the shorter distances between the greens and tees (though you are still required to take a cart at this time). Every green surface has been replaced with a new turf called Pennlinks Creeping Bentgrass to insure a more consistent putting experience. Some of the bunkers were also reshaped and eliminated. The "new" Monument 17th was shortened by 20 yards and made a 495-yard par 4 (so much for less bunkers). The "new" Pinnacle layout has changed from a par 72 to 71 and now does not return to the clubhouse until you complete the 18th hole. It has more of a links-style feel now. These are truly two of the finest golf courses in Arizona that you can play....and yes, as always, the staff at Troon North Golf Club makes you feel like a club member for a day (or as many days as you like).
