Best of Arizona Pinnacle Course at Troon North

Scottsdale, Arizona is home to some of the best golf courses in the world, and Tom Weiskopf has designed two beauties at Troon North Golf Resort. The Pinnacle and Monument golf courses combine for a great 36-hole facility that can hardly be matched in quality, playability, and customer satisfaction by any golf course in the area.
The Pinnacle golf course, opened in 1996, was the second golf course on the property. This golf course was solely designed by Tom Weiskopf and has consistently been ranked as the number two best daily fee golf course in the state of Arizona. This golf course can play from 4883 to 7025 yards depending on the tees you play.

Pinnacle is more of a links-style golf course that is surrounded by the typical landscape found in the Sonoran deser

Phoenician Golf Club

This 27-hole facility has been called the "Prettiest course in the Southwest" by none other than Ted Robinson Sr. - one of the course architects. Though he may be slightly biased, there are few that would disagree. This magnificent golf course is indeed a jewel of the Southwest.

Phoenician Golf Club has three distinct nines (a total of 27 holes) that meander up against Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three nines (Desert, Canyon, & Oasis) offer many benefits to the player, the most important of which being more golf to play! The three nines also serve to allow for nine-hole rates, give the ability to handle groups and individual play, and give the player many different views. The Phoenician Golf Club is not known for length, but it has ple

Troon North

As you pick your dates for your upcoming Arizona Golf Vacation, there is one golf course that is for sure a must-play, and that's Troon North Golf Club.

In 2007, Tom Weiskopf took his already #1 and #2 ranked golf courses in the state of Arizona and rerouted them to create an entirely new playing experience. Both the "new" Pinnacle Golf Course and the "new" Monument Golf Course have shorter distances between the front and back nines and the Pinnacle has been made walkable with the shorter distances between the greens and tees (though you are still required to take a cart at this time).

Grayhawk Golf Club

Since 1994, Grayhawk Golf Club has been a staple on the Scottsdale golf menu. The laid-back ambiance of this club sets it apart from all other courses in the area. Lefty has toted the Grayhawk banner throughout his professional golf career and is honored every day in "Phil's Grill". Home to two championship courses, the Raptor and Talon, Grayhawk Golf Club is host to many major events. The most recent and on-going of these is the Frys.com Open, a PGA TOUR event in the fall, won last year by our friend from north of the border, Mike Wier.

Legend Trail Golf Course

Golf Digest magazine has consistently rated Legend Trail Golf Club 4.5 stars out of 5 on their "Best Places to Play" list. This golf course is located in North Scottsdale very close to Cave Creek, Arizona. Playing at only slightly over 6,800 yards Legend Trail is a great golf course for women golfers and players just starting out.

Weaving through the unique landscape that makes up the Sonoran Desert, Legend Trail has large fairways and greens to match. The fairways feature a great deal of undulations and knowing which side of the fairway to aim for off the tee can be very helpful. This is one of the few golf courses in the state that requires a forced carry on every hole

TPC of Scottsdale

The TPC Scottsdale Stadium golf course was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf to host the FBR Open on the PGA Tour. Annually in February, this golf tournament is one of the most highly attended sporting events anywhere in the world - typically the crowds number well over 500,000 fans.

The golf course was specifically designed to maximize the fan's ability to watch golf. There are large mounds on each side of the fairways that give spectators a birds-eye view of all the action on the fairways. This desert golf course uses lots of water and sand to direct the player around the golf course.

SunRidge Canyon Golf Club

Sunridge Canyon Golf Club, like many others in Arizona, is sculpted out of the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by lush desert landscape. But what makes this golf course so alluring and really sets it apart is the great combination of short and long holes. Course designer Keith Foster has given you several great opportunities to shoot a low number.Sunridge Canyon is located just a short drive from Phoenix in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

There are risks but the rewards can be great if you pull them off. The first and tenth holes are both very drivable par-4's for the longer hitters but they are surrounded by desert and you will need to think twice about going for these greens. Sometimes it is hard to swing an iron off the first tee when the green is so close to you.

The Champions Course at TPC of Scottsdale

Recently the TPC of Scottsdale Champions course, formerly the Desert, opened its doors to public play. Randy Hackenkamper was charged with the task of revamping the Champions course and bringing it up to speed with the Stadium course.

Previously, the golf course played only 6,500 yards but they have lengthened the golf course to over 7,100 yards from the back tees. This will allow the golf course to be playable for a wider range of golfers. The lower handicap players will be tested and the higher handicappers have enough room to miss the ball.

This golf course was designed to be different from the Stadium course. Here you will not find the mounding like around the Stadium course. In addition to yardage, th

Sunridge Canyon

Sunridge Canyon is not an overly long golf course, at only slightly over 6,800 yards from the back tee, but accuracy is the name of the game on this layout. This Arizona golf course includes a good collection of short and long holes that give the players a chance to either score well or make a big number. Like most desert golf course in the Scottsdale area, Sunridge Canyon uses the desert areas to intimidate the golfer into making poor swings.

Good architects like Keith Foster are able to take a large area of fairway and make it look smaller by adding undulations and slopes, along with desert areas to frighten the golfer. Most of the landing areas on this Arizona golf course are generous and it may take playing the golf course once or twice to find the right line on

Eagle Mountain Great Elevation Changes

Eagle Mountain Golf Club is located in Fountain Hills, Arizona - just a short drive from Scottsdale. This is one of the few desert golf courses in the area that has tremendous elevations changes throughout. This is not a very long golf course, only slightly over 6,800 yards from the back tee, but it is definitely not a pushover.

Eagle Mountain is surrounded by Saguaro cacti and barren desert areas that contrast nicely with the lush green fairways on the golf course. This golf course is a mixture of fairway bunkers, water hazards and desert landscape. This golf course was designed by Scott Miller and he has given the player several options for playing each hole.

The staff at Eagle Mountain is very friendly and always willing to help out. Althou

The Boulders Golf Resort

The Boulders Golf Resort is a wonderful golf course in a wonderful location. It is tucked back about a mile from Scottsdale Road and provides a nice quiet golf experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the course conditions are fantastic, and the practice facility is very accommodating. When you get out on the golf course you see why this is one of the top golf resorts in Arizona. The golf course has plenty of character while being challenging but fair. The first hole is a dogleg left Par 5. The fairway ends at about 300 yards from the tee so the big hitters need to lay up. Luckily for me, the day I played The Boulders I didnt bring my "A game" so I could hit driver and still be al
